Who is Michael Jones?

Hi there! I’m a creative coach, instructor and speaker based in New York City. I help high-powered professionals focus their creativity so they can generate the income and influence to work and live on their own terms.

Previously, I was a fashion editor and style columnist at one major magazine, e-commerce writer at another, and a instructional designer/corporate trainer for a couple of Fortune 100 clients.

As a creative coach, I provide support, accountability and feedback to empower my clients to get noticed and get paid for the brilliance they bring to the world.  (Here's how I do it.)

As an instructor, I design and facilitate virtual and in-person workshops and develop best-in-class online training and tools that educate and empower creators to build signature programs, publish purposeful content and promote irresistible offers — minus the stress, frustration and guesswork. (Sounds interesting, huh?)

And as a speaker, I give talks on how creativity and technology impacts how we live and work in the new economy to groups both big and small. (Let’s make it happen.)

That’s not all…

I also publish Michael’s List — a weekly newsletter featuring can’t-miss links on creativity, performance and personal improvement. Subscribe for free below. And cancel anytime you want. ↯

Oh, and these are a few of my favorite things:

  • Skinny pants: I'm meticulous about the hem of my signature silhouette stopping precisely above the ankle. It's serious business.

  • Fruit snacks: Welch’s, for the win.

  • Books and magazines: After a pitstop at the Union Square Greenmarket, a typical Saturday afternoon includes a visit to Barnes & Noble. (Here’s a list of my book recommendations.)

  • The Dallas Cowboys: Some of my fondest memories growing up are of my Dad and I settling in after Sunday dinner to watch our 'Boys. Into adulthood, my avidity for #CowboysNation hasn't diminished one bit.

  • Levain Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies: It’s a struggle to avoid popping into the Harlem location every Sunday after church. These massive goodies are legit, my friend.

  • Volunteering: Service is an essential part of my life. Through my church (First Corinthian Baptist Church in Harlem), and personal and professional networks, I contribute my time and resources to create the change I want to see in the world.

  • Notebooks: Despite my loyalty to all things Apple, I'm pretty old school when it comes to business. Give me a notebook and gel-ink ballpoint pen from Muji, and i’m good to go.

  • Chicken wings: Drums > Flats. Don't debate me.
