What is Creative Coaching?

Creative coaching is process designed to concentrate your creative energy on elevating your performance in the “here and now” rather than focusing on the distant past or future. Coaching involves the belief that you have the answers to whatever’s in the way within you.

Effective creative coaching is…

  1. Results-focused: The coaching must elevate performance.

  2. Clear: The coaching must be able to be communicated and understood by clients who can then act to fast-track their rate of production and level of performance.

  3. Flexible: Coaching must be subject to change, adaptation and evolution.

  4. Forward-thinking: Coaching rises above the restrictions and boundaries of past thinking — to be creative, the idea must exist outside the limits of what has or has not worked before.

During your creative coaching sessions, you’ll receive support, accountability and feedback to generate new or clarify existing ideas, new directions and new paths to help you maximize your creativity.

No offense, but … what makes you qualified to be my creative coach?

No offense taken! I’ve designed, developed and delivered learning experiences at a top-25 Inc. 500 firm — with a portfolio including two Fortune 100 clients — for and to a workforce possessing little to no experience in financial services, quality control and client engagement. (Not to mention: It was my first foray into the financial sector myself.)

Competitors were jostling for market share and the economy hadn’t yet fully recovered from the Great Recession leaving customers and clients plus front-line and management on the edge or eruption at a moment’s notice.

My solution simple but not easy: Make learning not feel like learning. The result? Clients from the second-largest financial institution in the country dispatched Michael to one of his firm’s field offices to replace their in-house training team.

I’ve used my creative point of view to work my way from an assistant at a magazine owned by one of the world’s most influential media companies to a digital fashion editor with a weekly style column.

Plus, I’ve also coached and mentored authors, entrepreneurs, executives and digital creators at every stage of the creative process to produce results including revenue increases, product launches, job promotions and signature programming for their online businesses, personal brands and side hustles.
